Women from Ekeremor Constituency One (1) have issued a strong call for unity and continued cooperation, reaffirming their unwavering support for Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. The declaration comes amid growing political tensions as the next election season approaches.

In a press statement released today, the women expressed concern over attempts by certain political actors to divide the region for personal gain, warning that such tactics threaten the peace and mutual respect that have long defined their communities.
“Some politicians—lacking meaningful achievements—have once again resorted to tactics that divide rather than unite,” the statement read. “We must resist these forces and safeguard our unity.”
Praising the achievements of Senator Dickson, the women highlighted a series of transformational projects and initiatives that have significantly improved the lives of constituents in Bayelsa West. Among the noted achievements are the construction of the Bayelsa State Polytechnic in Aleibiri, the establishment of the University of Africa in Toru-Orua, and the founding of Hensard University—developments which they say have created unprecedented educational opportunities for the youth.
“Thanks to Senator Dickson, we can now drive into Ekeremor—a feat that once seemed impossible,” the women noted, referring to the ongoing Sagbama-Ekeremor Road project, which began under Dickson’s tenure and continues under Governor Douye Diri. The women credited Senator Dickson’s political influence in helping secure Governor Diri’s emergence and re-election.
The press statement also commended Senator Dickson for his grassroots initiatives, including the construction of local markets in Ekeremor and Aleibiri, women-focused empowerment programs, and annual distribution of food supplies to women across the constituency—a tradition dating back to his time as governor.
“His support for healthcare, especially for women and children, has drastically reduced infant and maternal mortality in our district,” the group emphasized.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the women lauded the Senator’s role in the political elevation of several leaders from Bayelsa West, including Hon. Fred Agbedi, Hon. Ogbere, Hon. Tari Pori, and Hon. Ball Oyarede. They also applauded his reform of the Traditional Council, which led to the elevation of various royal stools, including that of their own Alei.
“Senator Dickson remains a powerful voice at the Senate—one who champions our interests with clarity, courage, and conviction,” the statement said.
Urging the youth to stay informed and vigilant, the women cautioned against being misled by “empty narratives” and emphasized the importance of preserving communal unity during the political season.
“In this season, Senator Dickson remains the leader who embodies our collective aspirations and capacity to deliver,” the women declared.
They concluded by reaffirming their confidence in his leadership and pledging their total support as the region approaches another defining political chapter.
