Justice Rahman Osodi of an Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced a businessman, Bernard Nzenwa, to four years and 11 months imprisonment for fraud. Justice Oshodi convicted the businessman of a one count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Lagos Zonal Directorate. The businessman was charged to court alongside his company, Omega Maritime and Energy Limited, for a lone charge bordering on issuance of false documents on December 6, 2022. Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), yesterday, said the Dangote Refinery is unable to supply the nation with over 65 million litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), stressing that only 10.3 million litres have been received from the facility. The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1,650 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,645 per dollar on Wednesday. Similarly, The Naira depreciated to N1,544.02 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM rose to N1,544.02 per dollar from N1,539.65 per dollar on Wednesday, indicating N4.37 depreciation for the naira. The volume of dollars traded (turnover) in the official market declined by 37.2 percent to $87.51 million from $139.48 million traded on Wednesday.
