Security operatives in Anambra State have arrested a mother and her two children for beating their 75-year-old father, identified as Romanus Obidigwe. It was gathered that the culprits, Esther Obidigwe, Ozioma Obidigwe and Obuka Obidigwe, committed the crime in Awba-Ofemmili community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State. An attempt by inmates to break out of a high-security prison in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, has led to the deaths of 129 people, the authorities say. Interior Minister Jacquemain Shabani said that 24 prisoners had died of bullet wounds after warning shots were fired in the early hours of Monday morning. The Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee for the appointment of Mr. Aliyu Zubairu as Head Coach of the National U20 Boys, Flying Eagles. The Cross River chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) says it will not renegotiate the N70,000 new minimum wage as agreed by labour unions and the Federal Government.
