The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Tuesday, said the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards to new applicants across Edo State local government areas will commence today. The commission, while urging the applicants to come for their cards, noted that it would not release them to third parties. Sixteen persons have been burnt to death in an auto crash at Ajue community, along the Ore-Ondo highway, Ondo state. Three other persons were seriously injured while two others reportedly escaped unhurt. Reports had it that the victims were burnt beyond recognition when the two vehicles involved, a Toyota Bus and a truck, went up in flames at around 8pm. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested two young ladies for allegedly selling illicit drugs online in Edo State. NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, August 25, identified the suspects as Martha Owotorofa, 26, and Odion Uzordinma, 21. According to the statement, while Martha was nabbed at Kada Plaza, Benin city with quantities of Canadian Loud, Odion was arrested at Ugbowo area of the city with 30 cups of cookies and 17 slices of cake, all laced with illicit substances.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment was confirmed in the early hours of Tuesday by NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi. “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
