ExxonMobil has refuted claims of being responsible for the recent oil spill in the Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, which affected over 27 coastal communities. The village head of Mkpanah, Denis Essenem, had attributed the spill to ExxonMobil, stating that the company is the only major oil operator in the area. Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed the payment of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 to state and local government workers. The bodies of six hostages have been retrieved from the Gaza Strip, Israel’s military says. A statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says the bodies of Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Yoram Metzger, Nadav Popplewell and Haim Perry were recovered from the Khan Younis area on Monday.
