The management of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has issued an operational licence to Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, Ologbo in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo. The NMDPRA is the Technical and Commercial Regulator of Midstream and Downstream Operations in the petroleum industry. Issuance of operational licence is the final stage of approval from the regulatory authority which implies that the plant can now fully operate as a refinery. State Reporters informed that the Tinubu-led administration, on Monday, unveiled the new Airbus A330 purchased under his leadership. An armed robber, who’s allegedly part of a gang terrorizing Nigeria-owned shops in Amsterdam, Netherlands has been nabbed. The suspect was nabbed by Nigerians during a recent robbery attack and was later handed over to the police. It was gathered that two of the robbers managed to escape during the failed robbery attack which is said to be the third in recent times.
Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed the payment of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 to state and local government workers. According to the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, state government workers will receive the new minimum wage from August 2024, while local government workers will benefit from September 2024. The implementation of the new minimum wage will follow the consequential adjustment table used in 2019, pending the release of the table from the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission. The bodies of six hostages have been retrieved from the Gaza Strip, Israel’s military says. A statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says the bodies of Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Yoram Metzger, Nadav Popplewell and Haim Perry were recovered from the Khan Younis area on Monday. The rescue operation was carried out by the IDF alongside the Israel Security Agency. The Hostage Families Forum said the recovery of the bodies had provided the families with “necessary closure”. The National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has been summoned by the Nigeria Police Force for questioning over allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, and other related offences. The invitation letter, signed by ACP Adamu Muazu on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team, warned that a warrant of arrest would be issued if Ajaero fails to comply.
