The Dangote Group has expressed grief over the death of Ruth Otabor, sister of reality TV star Phyna, who tragically passed away following injuries sustained in a road accident involving one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Otabor family and emphasized its commitment to both safety and compassion.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State. On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement read.
According to Dangote Group, since the accident occurred, its officials and insurance partners had been responsible for all medical and financial costs, while also providing continuous support to Ruth’s family. The company revealed that plans had been finalized to fly her abroad for advanced medical treatment in India, pending clearance from her doctors.
Unfortunately, despite these interventions and her determined fight for survival, Ruth passed away on August 31, 2025.
Dangote Group reaffirmed its dedication to safety and pledged to strengthen preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies.
“At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion remain at the core of our operations. We will continue to improve our safety systems while supporting those affected in moments of tragedy. May God grant her eternal rest,” the management stated.
