In a recent sociocultural activity in Toru-orua community in Sagbama local government area in Bayelsa, that formed part of the 2024 annual youth festival, High Chief Victor Okubonanabo, Mr. Eyitonefie Richie Etonye and Dr. Rosemary Ebiere Governor were honored with special awards.
“The awards were into two categories, Humanitarian Award and Award of Academic Excellence.”
Both Chief Victor Okubonanabo, Executive Secretary, Bayelsa State Universal Basic Education Board and Mr Eyitonefie Richie Etonye, Permanent Secretary, Bayelsa State Government House, received humanitarian awards, which recognises their exemplary life of selfless support to the youths and general contributions to the development of Toru-orua community.
Dr. Rosemary Ebiere Governor-Efidi was honoured with an Award of Academic Excellence. She is a female youth who recently obtained her Doctorate Degrees from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and contributes to the human capital building and development of Toru-orua community.
The award is to extol her dedication to academics, while encouraging other youths to strive in self development.
Comrade Dennis Egbemo, the festival planning committee chairman expressed gratitude to the Awardees, Mr Richie Etonye and Chief Victor Okubonanabo, for their huge financial support which led to the completion of the hallmark youth project (Mini Pavilion) that was inaugurated on 1st October, 2024 for the use of the community.
