Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Seriake Dickson has said efforts by mischief makers to cause rancor between him and Governor Douye Diri has failed stating that there is no acrimony between him and the governor.
Senator Dickson stated further that his support for the governor’s gubernatorial bid was unconditional and he does not pester him in demand nor seek to remote control him or his government, rather he said his distance, tolerance and silence are deliberate to disappoint mischief makers who expected a fight between him and the governor at their selfish political agenda.
Speaking when the governor led a large delegation including Senator Lawrence Ewrhudjakpor, his deputy on a Yuletide visit to him at his country home in Toru -Orua, Senator Dickson explained that he does not wish the political crisis and instability happening in other states to take place in Bayelsa and Ijaw Nation as a result of his love for the state and his people. He promised to work with the governor in the interest of the state.
The Lawmaker on behalf of the leadership of his community and the Bayelsa West senatorial district thanked the governor and his delegation for the Christmas visit describing it as a symbolic one that shows the peace and stability in the state that he had labored for and upon which the governor is building.
He advised those working closely with the governor and the government that are peddling fake news to focus their attention on advising and supporting him to do positive things that will advance the state and the government instead of generating negativity, propaganda and division.
In a remark, governor Diri decried the level of rumor mongering in the state urging all to exude love and respect to one another as brothers.
He stressed that his visit will put an end to speculations about a rift between him and his predecessor.
While he recalled how Senator Dickson was instrumental to his emergence as governor of Bayelsa state, governor Diri pledged to continue to work with him to develop the state.
The governor appreciated the people of Bayelsa West for their massive support that ensured the victory of he and his deputy during the 2023 gubernatorial election in the state.
