Bayelsa state have lost over 18 persons and properties worth millions on a tragic boat accident in Southern Ijaw river.
State reporters revealed that the sad incident occurred on the 7th of August when passengers were traveling through Ezetu community to Yenagoa by river.
The sad event has claimed lives of family members and important properties leaving the people of Southern Ijaw local government and the state to mourning.
In a statement released by Daniel Alabrah, Chief Press Secretary of the State Governor, expressed the condolences of the state government to families of the victims.
The Governor said investigation will be conducted into the cause of the accident and urged boat operators to always observe safety procedures on the state’s waterways.
