I read this beautiful meaning from an article in the ongoing debate about Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
“The current agitation in Bayelsa West is actually not a contest between Sagbama and Ekeremor nor is it the political enslavement of one upon the other. This is exactly where the sponsored of the current zoning agitation intends; to divide the people across local government lines.
Both LGA’s have over the years been united and have enjoyed mutual political support. The eyes of our people must be open to see that the togetherness of the area has always been its strength and defense and has always been dreaded by others.
The plot is to aid intruders, outsiders whose ambitions may be threatened by the region to split the area across local government lines just the way Nigeria has been split across ethnic and religious lines and we are all suffering the outcome.
The ijaw nation is subtly under an attack and it’s being attacked from the centre using our own people.
The weakening and splitting of the Ijaw-nation from the heart of Ijaw land is the ultimate goal. If the centre can no longer hold.”
In the face of the ongoing, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson the target has not stopped speaking truth to power. His offense is “not accepting to collaborate because he feels greatly for parts of the South South and Niger Delta that sufferers undemocratic developments.” He wished for a fair, equitable and positive discrimination among states of the nation – where he has also decreed authorities to have integrity and character in the sharing of the nation’s opportunities like employment and other meaningful federal engagements. Sen. Dickson believes the South South states are not involved massively, highlighting the staff working at the FIRS and CBN and particularly NNPC without Bayelsa State.
In a system where less attention is given to opposition, he has managed to air his voice through bills.
Some of his Bills that have scaled through First Reading include;
1) Federal Medical Centre Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State (Establishment) Bill, 2024 (SB.507) – First Reading
2) 1 Federal College of Education Ekeremor, Bayelsa State (Establishment) Bill, 2021 (SB.774) – First Reading.
3) Ecological Fund Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024 (SB.512) – First Reading.
Other bills:
1) National Prayer Bill 2024
2) Nigeria Women (Special Right) Bill 2024
Sen. Dickson has supported bills of his colleagues that means well for the Niger Delta region and the country generally. His competencies transmitted through his voice as he supports the South South Development Commission Bill (SSDC) which today has become a policy having the six South South states – Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers State as Beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, let us consider some projects facilitated by Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson in his area.

Senator Dickson has promised to do more, and his office continues to work towards improving the lives of the people in Bayelsa West Senatorial district.
His constituents must see beyond the immediate, look beyond the now and see how this is a plot to split to further subject politically dependent communities to permanent slavery.
Dickson is an asset that should be protected.

Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson’s strategic stance on developing his else while deprived people demands reciprocity from his constituents. There is no reason not to reciprocate and the best way to do it is to reelect him severally to the Senate. Reasonably, BWSD has no option. This is the truth. It is incontrovertible.
