The Niger Delta Ex-agitators forum of Bayelsa west from Phase 1, 2 & 3 has endorsed Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for Senate 2027, to represent Bayelsa west senatorial district at National Assembly.
Their declaration below:
Ladies and gentleman, it is with so much gratitude to God Almighty that I welcome you all to this event as we are indeed privileged to be among the living.
Having said that, we are gathered here today to do one thing, and one thing alone, and that is the ENDORSEMENT of our senator, the peoples senator, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson to return to the Senate in 2027.
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has been giving quality representation to the good people of Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly and we have passed a vote of confidence on him.
We want to make it clear that our declaration of support and endorsement of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson is borne out of his relentless and fearless and courageous effort as one who not only represents Bayelsa West but the Ijaw Nation, the Niger Delta region and the ordinary Nigerians who desire good governance, and a strong, united, virile and egalitarian country.
Ladies and gentleman, there is no iota of doubt that Senator Henry Seriake Dickson remains the best choice for us as a people who truly desire quality and assertive leadership cum representation in the senate.
We say this boldly because Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has performed creditably, he has been able to attract the much needed attention to our plight in Bayelsa West and the Ijaw Nation as well to to the Niger Delta region.
The Ijaw Nation is blessed to have him as its representative, especially now that our erstwhile Ijaw National leader, Pa Edwin Clark is no more. Ofurumapepe has stepped into the big shoes of Pa Clark and we, the Niger Delta Ex-agitators Forum from Bayelsa West are solidly behind him.
You will recall the various irregularities that have taken place, both in the National Assembly and in our nation at large. In our sister state of Rivers, the democratically elected Governor, Sir Sim Fubara was unconstitutionally removed from office and a Sole Administrator was appointed.
This was a day light robbery which our senator, Chief Henry Seriake Dickson, as a fearless Ijaw leader and peoples Senator, fought against and condemned in its entirety.
You will also recall the Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan debacle with the Senate President which led to her unconstitutional suspension. As a true democrat, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson kicked against it as well and has shown that he is capable of speaking truth to power.
All these and more have made Ofurumapepe even more acceptable by Nigerians in general and by the people of Bayelsa West and the Ijaw Nation in particular. And this is why Senator Henry Seriake Dickson is the right choice for our people in Bayelsa West.
We have closely observed the various smear campaigns and attempts to cause confusion and division in Bayelsa West by some selfish politicians from within and outside Bayelsa West, who are being sponsored by some key APC leaders in Abuja.
We want to send a clear message to them that their fight against Senator Henry Seriake Dickson is a fight they can’t win. It is a fight against the entire Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta and against the people of this country who admire Ofurumapepe for his courage and fearlessness, to speak truth to power, even at his own risk.
We are calling on them to tow the path of wisdom because we, and other well-meaning individuals and groups and all lovers of democracy are solidly behind Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, come rain or shine. By the grace of God Almighty, he will return to the Red Chambers.
Our position about the 2027 National Assembly election is clear, there is nothing like zoning. Anyone from Sagbama and Ekeremor who desires to contest the Senate or House of Representatives seats are free to do.
We believe that those clamouring for Senate for Ekeremor and House of Representatives to Sagbama are oblivious of the true nature of politics. If they are wise and knowledgeable, they will understand that the era of zoning is over and should not allow the enemies of the Ijaw Nation divide us because when are divided, they will weaken us even more.
At this juncture, we want to call on our people, especially the elders, youths, women and all stakeholders in Sagbama and Ekeremor local government area which makes up Bayelsa West Senatorial District to shun all divisive propaganda against Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
So our call to them is that they should support the choice of the Ijaw Nation which is Senator Henry Seriake Dickson come 2027. The Ijaw Nation has united behind Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for 2027 and so, let’s support him and ensure that he is returned to continue to offer the best representation to the people of Bayelsa West, Ijaw Nation, the Niger Delta and the people of Nigeria as a federal lawmaker.
